Optimal design of SMA linear actuation unlocking mechanism for CubeSat

In order to realize the reliable unlocking of solar arrays a CubeSat under strict constraints space and power dissipation, shape memory alloy(SMA) wire linear actuation mechanism is developed. Through using spring-SMA structure, relying on spring force locking, heating SMA producing recovery stress drive pin movement, are unlocked. The mathematical model established, relationship among stroke, time, power, alloy diameter working voltage obtained through simulation. optimize its overall time particle swarm optimization algorithm used wire. simulation results show that with whose 0.5 mm has best performance when driving 1.2 V. Finally, experimental study design shows 3.2 s, 3.55 W pin-pulling stroke 1.8 mm, being consistent results. high reliability, good adaptability, therefore having passed various environmental tests successfully applied in orbit.
